Mark 9:7 “And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.”
There are those in their field of expertise that causes crowds to silence when they speak.
Financiers, presidents, political leaders, chefs, and scholars command attention when what they say demands attention.
When the Creator of the universe takes the time to open Heaven and speak to sinful man, we should pay attention. When what Jesus said is recorded for us to read repeatedly, we can not only read but meditate and memorize His Word.
But, there are times when the voices we hear speak things we cannot readily identify. Some press us into thinking we are unworthy, or worse, worthless. If we do not know who is talking and cannot discern what is true, we fall into the bondage of the one speaking.
God gave us a filter for what we should think and do.
Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
He gave us a book to live by.
Matthew 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
With that in mind, when was the last time you heard God’s voice?
