Deuteronomy 11:22-23 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him; Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.”

Some people searching for God see Christianity as a religion of do’s and don’ts with a rule book that is hard to read, and its followers like lemmings following blindly. Denominations have their do’s and don’ts, wear this, don’t go there, say this, and so on.

But Christianity, authentic Christianity, is about a relationship, not a religion.

Everyone deserves the right to have the facts presented to them to make the right choice. Many argue what truth is? Some spout their evidence that they have gathered over time and place their belief in what they determine is the truth.

From Genesis to Revelation, God’s Word is true right down to the last punctuation mark.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

We are to live by God’s Word. And when we die, we will be judged by God’s Word.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

God made a decision before He created us that He would create a plan to redeem sinful man. He chose us.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

God chose us, and His will is that all (not some, or a few, elect or chosen) should come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are all elected to be saved in God’s economy. But He left it for us to choose.

We all must come to a decision point when we have heard the truth.

Oswald J. Smith once said, “No one has the right to hear the gospel twice, while there remains someone who has not heard it once.”

Our lives are full of choices. Some feel as if their life is a pressure-filled mess full of options they are not prepared to make. Others have failed in previous decisions and want to escape from making mistakes in the future.

When you decide not to choose, you still have made a choice.

Fear of failure, fear of rejection, and widespread fear will handcuff many into indecision. Yet, it is not so for the child of God. Our loving, Heavenly Father has already made the choices simple.

Each command is meant to protect, provide, empower, and ultimately reveal the character of God to us. Each decision we make to follow His commands, directives, principles, and guidelines allows us to gather evidence that our God is real and loves us very much.

Often, we give our enemy, Satan, too much credit.

Some feel so pressed and oppressed that they attribute the decision to “the devil made me do it.” That could not be further from the truth.

When we choose to sin, it is our responsibility to bear. We cannot shift the blame onto anyone else. We also understand that with our decisions come the consequences of those decisions. As we grow and learn, the results of our choices have more weight.

We sometimes justify ourselves thinking our decision-making is better than someone else. We are deceived when we fall into that type of thought pattern.

All of God’s children have available to them the One who will lead them and guide them into all truth. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is for us to make the right decisions every time.

God was straightforward when He presented the Israelites with their choices.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.”

Obedience carries with it a built-in reward system.

Most are presented to us as yes or no, do this or don’t do that. God lets us know the consequences of each of those decisions. Our enemy blinds us from that fact and tries to sell us pleasure over substance.

Our choice as a child of God is by faith. Each decision allows us to gather evidence as to the reality of God. Much evidence will grow our faith. As faith grows, we cherish the truth and want to please God more. Faith is the key.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Seek Him diligently and see what faith in God can do!
